Mitsuko Horie is joining the Japanese dub cast of the Voltes V: Legacy theatrical cut as Mary Ann Armstrong. Horie sang the “Voltes V no Uta” theme song in the original 1976 anime series Voltes V.
The announcement was made during an early screening event for the movie in Japan on September 29.
At the event, Horie expressed gratitude for this role, explaining that this has become a “full circle” moment for her to be part of a series that has made a huge impact in Filipino culture. She even mentioned how her original Voltes V theme sort of became a “second national anthem” in the country and also told an anecdote about how she sang the original theme song over and over again at a local event she attended.
During the event, Horie also performed a cover of “Chichi wo Motomete,” the original ending theme of Voltes V performed by Ichiro Mizuki. Mizuki passed away at age 74 on December 22 after battling lung cancer.
Voltes V: Legacy will be released across Japanese theaters on October 18. The previously announced dub cast members include:

- Yusaku Hiyama as Draco
The Filipino TV live-action series aired for 90 episodes from May to September 2023 under the direction of Mark A. Reyes V. Aloy Adlawan was the creative director, while Suzette Doctolero, Loi Nova, Libay Trinidad, and Jake Somera were the scriptwriters. GMA Network aired the series, also available on its in-house streaming service.
The synopsis is as follows:
Voltes V: Legacy follows the story of three brothers, Steve, Big Bert, and Little Jon Armstrong, and their friends Jamie Robinson and Mark Gordon, as they fight the forces of humanoid aliens known as Boazanians who plans to invade the earth and launch their beast fighters all over the world.
