Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba revealed a new special 2025 illustration by ufotable for Mitsuri Kanroji, whose birthday is on June 1. The studio frequently marks such occasions with commemorative art, having recently released similar commemorative visuals for Kyojuro Rengoku and Kanao Tsuyuri.

They’re also known for commemorating other important dates like ChristmasNew Year, or Valentine’s Day.

Mitsuri Kanroji, also known as the Love Hashira, is expected to have a major role in the upcoming Infinity Castle movie trilogy. She previously got a special countdown visual to mark 62 days until the Japanese premiere date of the first movie.

Background on Demon Slayer

The manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, created by Koyoharu Gotoge, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020 and concluded with 23 volumes.

The anime, produced by ufotable, premiered in April 2019 with a 26-episode first season, followed by the breakthrough Mugen Train film in 2020. The movie became a box office sensation in Japan and played a major role in popularizing anime films globally. A revival screening of Mugen Train began in Japanese cinemas earlier this year, with North American screenings having launched on May 14.

The anime’s release timeline to date includes:

  • Season 2: October 2021 – February 2022 (including a re-edited version of Mugen Train)
  • Season 3: April – June 2023
  • Season 4: May – June 2024

Upcoming Projects and Developments

In addition to the ongoing revival screenings, a new trailer for the upcoming Infinity Castle trilogy was began being shown in Japan on May 9, 2025, and is currently being shown alongside the re-release of Mugen Train. The Infinity Castle storyline will be adapted into a three-part film series, with the first movie set to premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025, and international releases to follow between August and September.

Besides the anime, Demon Slayer is also expanding in gaming. The sequel to its original console fighting game, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2, is in development and set to launch on August 1, 2025.
