Voice actors Miyu Tomita and Kento Ito are joining the cast of Heat the Pig Liver anime as Ceres and Nott. Studio project No.9 is animating the series, with Masayuki Takahashi as director. The anime will premiere this October.
Some of Miyu Tomita’s popular roles include Miko Iino in the Kaguya-sama: Love is War series, Gabriel Tenma White in Gabriel DropOut, Riko in the Made in Abyss series, Rizu Ogata in We Never Learn!: BOKUBEN, and Ebisu in Dorohedoro. Meanwhile, some of Kento Ito’s popular roles include Hirotaka Nifuji in Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Doppo Kannonzaka in Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle – Rhyme Anima, and more recently Goro Amemiya in Oshi no Ko.
Previously announced cast members include Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Pig and Tomori Kusunoki as Jess. Deko Akao is writing the scripts, Susumu Watanabe handling character designs and Kenichiro Suehiro and Mayuko are composing the music.
Heat the Pig Liver, also known as Butareba -The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig– is based on an isekai light novel series written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tohsaka. The light novel began serialization in ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint in March 2020. A manga adaptation with art by Minami has been serialized in the Seinen manga magazine Dengeki Maoh since August 2020.
The plot follows an unappealing otaku who reincarnates as a pig, after passing out while eating raw pig liver. In the new world, he meets Jess, a girl who can read minds and accepts him for who he is, but she does plan on eating him eventually. However, she is in danger, and Pig is the only one who can save her while using his new skillset which includes a refined sense of smell.
