The official website for One Piece announced that the one-shot manga by Eiichiro Oda titled MONSTERS featuring Ryuma is getting a voiced manga. The story follows a traveling samurai Ryuma, as he gets involved in a plot that featuring a dragon at a town he visits despite wanting to take it easy. It’s the early days of his legend, and we already know a little about it thanks to One Piece. This one-shot is officially canon! To clarify, a voiced manga basically means moving frames from the manga with voice actors speaking the lines. Check out the announcement:
In addition, all the announced cast is as follows:
- Yoshimasa Hosoya – Ryuma
- Sakamoto Maaya – Flare
- Otsuka Hochu – Cyrano
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka – D.R.
- Terashima Takuma – Bartender
The story of Ryuma slaying a dragon from One Piece, as well as the similarity he has with Zoro, are both featured in this one-shot. You can also read more about the backstory of his family and connection to Zoro. Yoshimasa Hosoya’s other notable roles are Reiner from Attack on Titan, Tokoyami from My Hero Akademia, Junpei from Kuroko no Basket, Asashi from Haikyuu and several others big brother/captain kind of characters, so it will be cool to hear him as a young Ryuma.

Yoshimasa Hosoya fits Ryuma well, and it would be awesome if this got an OVA episode in the future as well!
