My Dress-Up Darling episode 5 marks Marin’s official cosplay debut! It’s another lovely episode and the final scene is no doubt the cherry on top! Remember last week when I said that I loved seeing “falling-in-love moments?” Well, this week delivered it, and it’s just absolutely perfect.
Episode 5 radiates a lot of good energy. I mean, how can one simply not adore Marin as she bounces – er, jumps in joy for fulfilling her dream of becoming Shizuki-tan? In addition, Gojo gets to meet a community of people who love what they do! It’s a nice feeling, but he’s also pretty overwhelmed by it (which is relatable and understandable.) Overall though, attending this event is an experience and an achievement so it warms my heart to see them both having fun.
It actually made me a bit jealous and I somehow missed attending these events. I have so much respect and love for cosplayers. Cosplaying is a lot of hard work and dedication, including the struggles in between. That’s why Gojo is an absolute good boy in how much he took care of Marin in this episode.
All in all, My Dress-Up Darling episode 5 makes for another lovely episode. It’s extra special because it provides a sneak peek into what a cosplay event looks and feels like — the excitement, the crowds, and all the photoshoots! It’s awesome how people come to celebrate and appreciate their favorite characters. Like Marin says, “It was amazing being around people who do what they love. I got stoked just being there. You know, it can be a hobby or whatever, but I just adore people who do what they love and have a good time. They have this sparkle, you know?“
I think the story of My Dress-Up Darling is a wonderful letter about loving and believing in oneself, especially in fulfilling something you want to do. The anime so far has been super amazing. It’s a great balance of story and fanservice, plus the well-animated visuals make it very enjoyable. There’s the cosplay costume, jiggle action (bless), and my favorite — their precious smiles!
Marin and Gojo’s friendship is so wholesome and heartwarming. It’s kind of bittersweet though that Gojo thought his days with Marin were over, and that he’s at least glad to have been useful to someone. Later, we find out that Marin has about fifty favorite characters she wants to cosplay! Gojo becomes happy by this, and thereafter, how Marin realizes how precious Gojo sees her. I think we can all agree that this ending was the best part.
The force in Marin’s double pads was definitely something, but I think her flustered reaction was much stronger! (To be honest, I was squealing.) It was very cute, especially after the fact that she remembers (from episode 3) that Gojo believes that word is special, and that he’ll only say it if he means it. This was not only a critical hit for Marin’s heart but to mine as well. Ah, blushing Marin is no doubt my favorite thing this week.
Don’t forget to vote for this anime in our weekly polls! Episode 6 will air on Saturday, February 12, at 24:00 JST. The English subtitled versions will also be available later on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Bilibili in select regions.
