My Hero Academia: You’re Next original movie has revealed an English subbed trailer ahead of its August 2 premiere in Japan. Studio BONES animated the movie, which scheduled to premiere in North America on October 11. You can watch the previously released trailer, now with English subtitles, below.
The movie was recently announced as the first of the franchise to get IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema releases on the opening day, along with additional cast, another visual, and a trailer.
My Hero Academia anime is based on the manga series by Kohei Horikoshi, which has been serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump since 2014. The manga received its first anime adaptation by studio BONES in 2016. It received 6 more seasons in the following years, with the 7th season currently ongoing.
The franchise also has 3 movies released so far: Two Heroes (2018), Heroes: Rising (2019) and World Heroes’ Mission (2021). Crunchyroll is streaming the series, and they describe the story:
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
The movie will premiere in Japan tomorrow, only 3 days before the manga by Kohei Horikoshi will release its final chapter on August 5. The TV anime is also set to return this Saturday with episode 12 of the seventh season.
