The The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽ anime TV special by studio SHAFT has revealed the creditless version of its opening video. The special will be premiering this summer, while it will have a three-week theatrical screening tour in Japan starting on July 14. Watch the opening video:
Yukihiro Miyamoto is directing the new anime, with Keichiro Ochi in charge of the series composition. We also had the chance to talk to Keichiro Ochi together with Junichiro Tanaka and Kazuya Shiotsuki, and you can learn about the project in our interview.
The theme songs were released on July 12, and both of them are performed by the Nakano sisters. The opening song is titled “Go-toubun no Mirai” and is featured in the video above, while the ending song is “Takaramono.” The cast includes:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Futaro Uesugi
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano
- Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano
- Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano
- Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano
- Miku Ito as Miku Nakano
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired in 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021. Bibury Animation Studios also animated the final movie.
Kodansha licensed the manga in English, as well as its epilogue chapter. Crunchyroll streams the anime, and they describe the story:
Uesugi Fuutarou, a high school second-year from a poor family, receives a highly appealing offer to work part-time as a tutor… but his students turn out to be girls from his own class! What’s more, they’re quintuplets… and all five are beautiful, but happen to be problem students who have borderline grades and hate studying!
