The live-action TV drama and film adaptation of Oshi no Ko revealed the main cast on Wednesday. A visual featuring the cast was also unveiled. The drama adaptation will be distributed exclusively worldwide on Prime Video this winter while Toei will release the movie in Japanese theaters. The cast members of the live-action adaptation include:
- Kaito Sakurai as Aqua Hoshino
- Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino
- Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino
- Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima
- Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa
- ano as Mem-cho
The live-action adaptation is based on the Oshi no Ko manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokari (Scum’s Wish). Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has been serializing the series since April 23, 2020, and has 13 volumes currently. The manga inspired an anime that premiered in April 2023 by studio Doga Kobo (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie). A second season of the anime is set to release this year.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English and describes the first volume as follows:
Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
