New Oshi no Ko anime art has dropped in celebration of Ii Oshi Day (Ii Oshi no Hi), which is on November 4. Numerous members of staff for the anime including key animators, directors, and character designers released artwork for the special day. Check them out below:
Ii Oshi Day, according to PR Times, is a play on the Japanese phrase “ii oshi” which forms the date November 4. It was started in 2019 by Goshinboku Co., Ltd., which operates local businesses in Gifu Prefecture. Ii Oshi Day represents a big opportunity for anime and gaming industries to market themselves and hold special events, and few took it more seriously than Oshi no Ko. The new Oshi no Ko anime art follows their Halloween special of Aqua and Ruby, which was featured in Anime Corner’s Halloween: Wrapped artwork compilation alongside Classroom of the Elite, Re:Zero, and many more.
Doga Kobo adapted Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s Oshi no Ko manga that first debuted in Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020. The anime series began airing in April 2023 and announced a second season on June 28, 2023. Oshi no Ko was a global phenomenon, quickly releasing an English language version of its opening “IDOL” by YOASOBI, and its Japanese version topping 100mn views on YouTube. Its debut episode was among the best of the year and swept all of Anime Corner’s Spring 2023 polls, achieving the first-ever grand slam win on our polls.
HIDIVE is streaming the series and they describe it as:
Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry?
