Reki Kawahara, best known as the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World series, is working on a new light novel titled Demons’ Crest. The light novel was previously announced with November 10 release date. Shiromizakana, known as K-ON! character designer and Kokoro Connect illustrator, is doing the art for the novel. Shiromizakana, whose real name is Yukiko Horiguchi, is the older sister of Sword Art Online illustrator, abec. She worked on multiple Kyoto Animation titles, including the aforementioned K-ON!, Lucky Star and Tamako Market.
Demon Quest is also getting a vertical manga – webtoon. Koroku Takano will be writing the story, while Tomoe is in charge of the art. A trailer for manga, which will be serialized on Hyke Comics, is now available and it features “impulse” by AliA:
Demon Crest follows a sixth grader named Yuma who is amazed at the possibilities of MMOs designed with new technology. He gets into games with friends and is always eager to play more. One day, Yuma logs out of a game – but he soon realizes he is stuck and passes out. He wakes up in a new world that is combined with the game world. Before he manages to find his surroundings he stumbles upon his classmate, but she somehow looks different and resembles the in-game monsters. The first volume of the light novel will ship on November 10, while the manga is launching on November 4. Dengeki Bunko is serializing the novel.
