Following the conclusion of several shonen manga series, Shueisha is organizing the “Jump Next Generation Battle Manga Award” competition, which will focus on battle-themed manga. Submissions will be accepted from October 1, 2024, to January 20, 2025.
The announcement illustration was drawn by Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia. It features Deku, along with Asta from Black Clover, Ichigo from BLEACH, and Yuji from JUJUTSU KAISEN.
My Hero Academia ended on August 5, while the anime is currently airing its 7th season. JUJUTSU KAISEN has announced that it has 5 chapters left, while the anime has its Culling Game sequel in production. Black Clover is in its final arc, while the anime ended and fans are waiting for any continuation news. Meanwhile, BLEACH ended in 2016, but its Thousand-Year Blood War anime will continue with Part 3 this October.
It’s clear Shueisha will be looking for some new hits. There are also some other ongoing titles with the potential to take over. Some of them are Dandadan, Sakamoto Days, The Elusive Samurai, Mission: Yozakura Family, and Undead Unluck. Each of them has been serialized for over 3 years and has an ongoing or upcoming anime adaptation.
