Studio TRIGGER Releases Transformers 40th Anniversary Animated Video

Studio TRIGGER revealed the full animated video for Transformers for its 40th anniversary. The project was announced in August, and it features the theme song “Mayday” by BUMP OF CHICKEN. The video was directed by Akira Amemiya, who previously directed both SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon.

The TRANSFORMERS franchise was created by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy in 1984. It began with the Transformers toy line, comprising transforming mecha toys from Takara’s Diaclone and Micro Change toy lines rebranded for Western markets. It then evolved into multiple directions, spawning anime adaptations, live-action movies, video games, comics, and more media.

Studio TRIGGER is a well known Japanese studio founded in August 2011. Some of their famous anime titles include Kill la KillLittle Witch AcademiaDarling in the Franxx (co-produced with A-1 Pictures), SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.DynazenonDelicious in DungeonPanty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2 and CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS.
