The upcoming Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- anime film has received a new trailer which features the theme song “Shinzo” by Eir Aoi. The movie will premiere on October 22, 2022, in Japan.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu are reprising their roles as Kirito and Asuna. Shiori Izawa will also return to the franchise to voice Argo, who first appeared in episode 3 of the original Sword Art Online anime series. The movie was originally set to premiere on September 10 but was postponed to October 22, due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in Japan.
Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- is the sequel to Sword Art Online Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night-. A-1 Pictures is animating it, while Ayako Kono is directing. The same director and studio also worked on the first movie, titled Sword Art Online: Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night-. It premiered on October 30, 2022, in IMAX theatres nationwide in Japan. The film also premiered in more than 40 countries around the world.
The anime is based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series. ASCII Media Works has been publishing it with abec’s illustrations since 2012, and it currently has 8 volumes in circulation. The 4th volume of the light novel series will be adapted to the second Progressive movie.
