Winter 2022 anime season is underway with some amazing new titles, but also long-anticipated sequels like Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 2, Teasing Master Takagi-san 3, and Arifureta. And it’s not just this season that is packed with sequels, but also the whole year ahead of us. So let’s take a look at some of the most hyped-up and promising ones.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War – Ultra Romantic
The third season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, titled Ultra Romantic, is coming in April. A-1 Pictures is once again animating, with Mamoru Hatakeyama as the director. The cast is returning and it looks like the characters introduced in the second season (especially Miko Iino) will get a bit more screen time. A visual was recently revealed:

The Rising of the Shield Hero 2nd Season
The previously delayed second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero is finally coming to our screens in April 2022. Korean studio DR Movie is joining Kinema Citrus on the production, while Masato Jinobu is directing. The cast is returning, but there is still no trailer, just a visual:
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun
Another title from Kinema Citrus is coming later this year, but the exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Fans of the Made in Abyss franchise have been patiently waiting ever since the Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul movie, which came out in 2020. Recently, a visual was revealed:

The Devil is a Part-Timer! 2
Over nine years after the first season, The Devil is a Part-Timer is getting a sequel by Studio 3Hz this July. The sequel has a new staff led by Daisuke Chikusa, but the cast is reprising their roles. The series revealed a key visual in December 2021:

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV
The fourth season of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon anime adaptation is coming later this year. J.C.Staff is once again animating, with Hideki Tachibana as the director. DanMachi 4 recently got a first visual:

Ascendance of a Bookworm 3
Everyone’s favorite bookworm is returning this spring, with what the third season of the Ascendance of a Bookworm series. Ajia-do is animating, with Mitsuru Hongo who is returning to direct.

Overlord IV
Studio MADHOUSE is animating the fourth season of the Overlord series. The exact release date is still unknown, but after the success the first three seasons had, the anime is definitely one of the most-hyped 2022 sequels. A key visual was recently revealed:

To Your Eternity 2nd Season
Emotions and heartbreak are bound to continue in the second season of the highly-acclaimed To Your Eternity anime adaptation. Officially announced in August, the sequel has a key visual, but no studio or staff information:
Shadows House 2nd Season
The continuation of Shadows House is coming this July. CloverWorks is animating one again, with Kazuki Ohashi as the director. A teaser visual was recently unveiled:
Link Click 2nd Season
Although technically a donghua (Chinese anime), Link Click is also set to get a continuation this year. Sadly, there’s still no additional information about it. The series did recently get a Japanese dub.
The Sequels of 2022
