The Apothecary Diaries has announced the release date of for the original soundtrack which will have an exclusive jacket illustration. Thoughtfully put together by composers Satoru Kosaki (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song), Alisa Okehazama (Jujutsu Kaisen), and Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss), the music bundle is set to release on April 17, 2024. Rio (animator) and Yukiko Nakatani (character designer, animation director) are the creators of the jacket illustration which features the apothecary Maomao surrounded by flowers as seen in the first opening theme. The original soundtrack is described with the following information:
- Price: 4,950 yen (~34 USD)/ 4,500 yen (~31 USD) excluding tax
- Music: Satoru Kosaki, Alisa Okehazama, Kevin Penkin
- Specifications: Original anime jacket, 3-CD set, special booklet, jacket illustration sticker (60mm x 60mm)

As of writing, the official tracklist has not yet been revealed. However, the previous insert songs have already been named and released on TOHO’s YouTube page. This includes “Omoikaze” from episode 3, “Asu To Tazunete” from episode 9, “Flower in the Snow” from episode 12, and “Blaze of Clear Sky” by Daichi Takenaka from episode 19. The Apothecary Diaries‘ original soundtrack is available for pre-order online.
In case you missed it, the jacket illustrations for the anime’s opening and ending themes were also released last year. The first opening theme is “Hanna ni Natte” by Ryokushaka while the ending is “Aikotoba” by AiNA THE END. The second cour’s opening theme song is “Ambivalent” by Uru, while the second ending theme song is “Ai wa Kusuri (Love is Medicine)” by Wacci. Creditless versions are available to watch on TOHO Animation’s YouTube.

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 21 – Pursuing Love
The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Shunfunotomo’s Hero Bunko currently publishes the light novel series, J-Novel Club publishes the digital English version, and Square Enix publishes the novels in print. The series also has two manga adaptations: the manga series of the same name by Itsuki Nanao, illustrated by Nekokurage on Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan; and “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Kokyu Nazotoki Techo (The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Maomao)” by Minoji Kurata on Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X. TOHO Animation and OML are currently animating The Apothecary Diaries series under the direction of Norihiro Naganuma (The Ancient Magus’ Bride).
The series, which is currently on its 21st episode, is available on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
