Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday has announced that the Frieren: Beyond’s Journey’s End manga will go on an indefinite hiatus.
Weekly Shonen Sunday will publish the last scheduled chapter of the manga in their 47 issue this coming Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The magazine’s editorial team explained that the hiatus is to give Frieren‘s creative duo time to focus on their health and well-being. They also discussed the possibility of changing the manga’s serialization pace. Weekly Shonen Sunday will announce the resumption date at a later time.
Hiatuses are an unfortunate but accepted part of the Frieren fandom. The manga has experienced several pauses since it started, with the most recent being a break from January to July 2025.

Synopsis
How does a being whose life spans eons rationalize the brevity of human existence? Much like it’s impossible for a person to comprehend geological time, can a nearly immortal being understand the concept of a century? While these questions sound like an abstract thought experiment, for Frieren, the eleven-mage of the hero’s party, they’re things she has to ruminate on every day.
When her journey to defeat the Demon King ends and she parts ways with her party, the passage of time is far from her mind. However, when she reunites with her former companions and sees them heading to the grave, she starts to realize how fragile human life truly is. Feeling deep regret for not having taken the time to bond with her friends, Frieren promises to make an effort to better understand the people around her.
