Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose boasts a manga adaptation illustrated by Ryo Ito. Media Factory’s Comic Alive serialized the manga from November 27, 2019, to May 27, 2024. A total of 8 manga volumes were published. Comic Alive also serializes the Mutsumi Aoki illustrated spin-off manga, Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Come: Otonari no Yon-shimai ga Zettai ni Honobono suru Nichijou.

Doga Kobo animated a 12-episode TV-anime adaptation, an adaptation Shuichi Nimaru has been highly critical of. Many fans also blame it for the declining sales of the light novel.

What’s Osamake About?

For 17 years, Sueharu Maru has lived a maidenless life. Yet, love flourishes in his life. The young Sueharu suffers from a deep infatuation with his school’s top idol, Shirokusa Kachi. A well-known and award-winning author, Shirokusa’s beauty matches her achievements. Far beyond all the guys in her school, she only ever entertains Sueharu, making him think he has a chance at a relationship. So when his kawaii, petite, childhood friend Kuroha Shida confesses her love for him, Sueharu flatly rejects her. After all, he’s a man deeply in love. But when he confesses his own love, he meets the same fate. What’s more, he finds that Shirokusa already has a boyfriend.

Kuroha, seeing her childhood friend in dismal straits, realizes she can use that to her advantage. So she offers him her assistance to get back at Shirokusa. But little does Sueharu know that the love of his life actually likes him too. And so a convoluted love story begins.
