“To Your Eternity” episode 19 is finally out! Previously on the walking dead Knockers! (ba-dum-tss.) The calamity in Jananda continues as Knockers terrorize the island. One by one, the lives of Fushi’s friends come to a regretful end. Fushi goes on, however, Hayase proposes a crazy wish. The episode is titled, “Wandering Rage.” Heavy spoilers below!
The episode begins as we see the undead dragging their bodies throughout the field. It’s really an unpleasant sight, but Hayase and the Knocker’s scene were more than just awful. It’s a really satisfying moment when Fushi-Oniguma crushes her (again!)
Seeing Gugu in action warms my heart, but the most soul-crushing thing about this episode is seeing Mia, Oopa, and Uroy as dead Knockers. (We finally see the frame from the opening song.)When Tonari and Sandel cry, that broke me because none of them meant for this to happen. It’s so frustrating that Hayase comes in to make things worse.
“To Your Eternity” episode 19 Honestly, I don’t even know how to react to Hayase anymore. She obviously wants to protect Fushi but in all the wrong ways. She is just downright nuts and obsessed! How is she even alive!? (No lie though, her frames were drawn so good!)
The moment Tonari jumps and pulls Hayase to the burning pit, I have to admit that was the bravest, and perhaps the best thing she’s ever done in this arc. It showed her selfless and kind character. I’m honestly glad to have seen that before this arc comes to a close.
Except, Tonari doesn’t go to paradise — Fushi jumps to save both Tonari and Hayase. Eventually, Fushi gathers the courage to finally, kill his friends — or the Knockers rather– himself. This was such an emotional and heavy moment. “To Your Eternity” episode 19 continues as everyone aids the injured people of Jananda. The island seems much more humane when everyone is helping each other.
Again, I am so proud to see Fushi’s character development. He’s grown so much. Tonari decides to stay and improve the Island, while Fushi goes on to leave with his prisoner, Hayase. This woman only gets less than unlikeable — she reveals that she’s in love with Fushi..!? She even asks him to kill her so they can become Ugh, her character is so messed up.
The way Fushi handled this situation is actually really cool and mature. (Smooth rejection ha-ha.) He shows no mercy or feelings as he leaves Hayase for dead in the middle of the sea. I can’t help but wonder though, how did the Knocker’s core get there?
“To Your Eternity” episode 19 honestly makes me happy because the art and animation are just perfect this week. (Chef’s kiss!) Last week, I said I felt disheartened by the recent episodes and I believe the visuals contributed a lot to it. I knew that they were preparing for a good finale so this episode gives me relief.
We’re on our way to the season finale now. With Jananda behind him, Fushi becomes nostalgic about his friends. I sort of feel it too. This show has been one long emotional ride. Although I didn’t enjoy this arc as much, I definitely look back at the ones before and feel both happy and sad about it. “To Your Eternity” has been a really unique and interesting anime.
Anyway! Let’s save (and brace ourselves for) the feels next week! I cannot wait to see what happens in the final episode. The journey continues!
