Tomo-chan Is a Girl is getting an anime adaptation by studio Lay-duce, as announced earlier during Crunchyroll’s AnimeExpo 2022 industry panel. The anime will premiere in January of 2023 and a trailer has been revealed:
The cast includes some well-known names:
- Rie Takahashi as Tomo Aizawa
- Kaito Ishikawa as Junichiro Kubota
- Rina Hidaka as Misuzu Gundo
- Sally Amaki as Carol Olston
Sally Amaki is also voicing Carol in the English dubbed version. Lexi Nieto is voicing Tomo Aizawa. Check out the official dub trailer:
The staff for the anime has been revealed:
- Director: Hitoshi Namba
- Assistant Director: Noriko Hashimoto
- Script: Megumi Shimizu
- Character Designer: Shiori Hiraiwa
- Music: Masaru Yokoyama
The anime is based on a four-panel (4-koma) manga by Fumita Yanagida, which has been serialized from 2015 to 2019 on Twi4’s Twitter account and Saizensen website. Kodansha published it in 8 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the English version and describes the plot as:
Tomo and Jun have been best buds since they were little kids, but now that they’re in high school, Tomo wants to be more than friends…too bad Jun just sees her as ‘one of the guys.’ Tomo may be a tomboy, but she’s determined to prove to Jun that she’s a woman, too!
