The upcoming Tomo-chan Is a Girl anime released the main trailer and a key visual along with information about the ending theme song on Sunday. The anime had an early screening for the first episode at Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival 2022 and live-streamed the cast members’ talk stage on the day. The anime will begin broadcasting on January 4, 2023. The adaptation was announced in July 2022.
Three cast members that made an appearance on the special stage were Rie Takahashi (Tomo Aizawa), Kaito Ishikawa (Junichiro Kubota), and Rina Hidaka (Misuzu Gundo). The newly-released key visual shows Tomo Aizawa and Junichiro Kubota putting their fists together, forming a heart shape. Behind them are Misuzu Gundo, Carol Olston, Kosuke Misaki, and Tatsumi Tanabe.
Rie Takahashi, Rina Hidaka, and Sally Amaki are performing the ending song “yurukuru*love.” The new trailer, which features the opening theme song titled “Kurae! Telepathy” by Maharajan, is available on YouTube below:
It was also announced that the first Blu-ray and DVD volume with the first two episodes, and an original soundtrack, which compiles all 53 tracks, will be released on January 25, 2023. The anime is listed with a total of 13 episodes, spread across six BD volumes.
Studio Lay-duce is animating Tomo-chan Is a Girl anime based on Fumita Yanagida’s debut manga of the same name that has been serialized on Seikaisha’s 4-panel manga service Twi4 from April 2015 to July 2019. The company published the final, 8th compiled volume in September 2019.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the Tomo-chan is a Girl! manga for English releases and published the final volume in September 2020. The official website describes the plot of the series as:
