The author of Hunter x Hunter manga, Yoshihiro Togashi, has made a post on X to describe how he is working through back pain. The manga is set to return next month in the 45th issue of this year’s Weekly Shonen Jump. His latest post reads:
“I’ve resumed working on the coloring, but I feel like the bones around my spine are about to collapse like the final blocks in a game of Jenga. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to see if I will complete it or collapse first. (Back pain high)”
He previously posted that had received treatment and recovered ‘quite a bit,’ saying that his posture during the coloring work was the cause of the back pain. In another post yesterday, he said:
“I’ve made progress on two chapters’ worth of storyboards. Just to be safe, I’ll avoid sitting in the chair too much for now and continue working on the storyboards. The coloring is on hold, and it’s depressing.”
In December of 2022, it was revealed that the Hunter x Hunter manga will no longer be serialized weekly. The last volume was released in November 2022, while Volume 38 is set to release this September.
Yoshihiro Togashi writes and illustrates the Hunter x Hunter manga. It began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in March 1998. The manga has gone through frequent hiatuses due to his health issues. He is now posting the occasional updates on X/Twitter. VIZ Media licensed the series in English, and you can read the latest manga chapters for free on the MANGA Plus website.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, describing the story:
Gon, a young boy who lives on Whale Island, dreams of becoming a Hunter like his father, who left when Gon was still young.
