Yuru Camp Season 2 - Still A Definition of Comfy

Two years after the release of its first season, the girls are back for more laid-back camping trips. Time to relax and enjoy comfy camping moments once again with the adorable secret society blanket. Yuru Camp Season 2 has only been here for a few weeks and it already gave us aesthetic views, a few comfy ost, and a lot of cute and wholesome moments. Here’s a quick recap of what happened in the first episode and my thoughts about it.

Yuru Camp Season 2 Episode 1 Recap

The first episode of the second season starts off with a young Rin Shima finding camping equipment from her grandfather. The curious Rin checks out the camping gear and tries to set it up on her own. This leads the young Rin to go on her first camping trip with the supervision of her father.

Young Rin on her first camping trip

She encountered a lot of problems on her first camping trip. Almost breaking a few camping gears, having a hard time to light a fire, and failing to cook her meal. Fortunately, the camp’s local caretaker gave a few camping tips to the naive Rin. Her mother also prepared her some emergency food (it’s not Paimon).

We then get a glimpse of young Nadeshiko staring at Mt. Fuji from very far away and the scene slowly transitioned to her present self working and delivering mail. It was then revealed that everyone from the group is busy working in their respective jobs and they get a chance to chat about their day-offs and plans for the upcoming New Year. Rin planned on camping alone as usual near the sea on new year’s eve while the others have different plans on their own. The episode came to a close with Rin coincidentally meeting Nadeshiko who just came out from a convenience store early in the morning while on her way to the campsite.

Thoughts

It was really relieving to see the history of Rin and how she got into camping. Furthermore, I was astonished that the first campsite that Rin actually went is the same campsite from episode one of the first season. Rin showed her relatability in the first half because everyone’s first time in camping can sometimes not go as planned. Regardless, it was a sight to see that we get to see more personality on Rin’s side on that simple flashback.

Not only Rin but also all the girls showed more personality and character in the first episode. The one who stood out to me the most besides Rin in this episode was Nadeshiko. She showed a different side of her that we haven’t seen much in the last season. The happy go lucky Nadeshiko we saw in the first season made a huge improvement from the first episode of the second season. She showed that she can be responsible and industrious as well as the others.

The girls haven’t been together yet but with them chatting with each other on their phones, you can already feel their bond. In addition, watching Nadeshiko and Rin met each other already made me feel the excitement of what’s about to come.

Yuru Camp is one of my favorite anime of all time and I have a lot of expectations from this brand new season. The expectations that I had for this season are already met with just two episodes. I can’t wait for more wholesome and comfy episodes from Yuru Camp!

If you want a wholesome series that rejuvenates the mind, then Yuru Camp is for you. It’s about high school girls going on camping trips to various campsites across the country, and each episode follows the travels of Rin Shima, a solo camper, and Nadeshiko Kagamihara, someone who loves camping with others. The anime takes place in Yamanashi Prefecture which has scenic views of nature which is perfect for the series. Captivating scenery paired with cute girls and comfy background music, Yuru Camp is surely a pleasure to watch, and now it’s back with season 2.
