The animated series based on the League of Legends game is created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. Executive producers include Linke, Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck. During a League Dev Update earlier today, Chistiran Linke said:
Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche. From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.

The Arcane animated series was first announced at the League of Legends 10th Anniversary celebration, and is developed and produced by Riot. Fortiche Productions is in charge of the animation, and they’ve worked on cinematics for League of Legends before. Some of their works are GET JINXED (Jinx), POP/STARS (Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, Kai’Sa). They also did RISE for Worlds 2018 and WARRIORS for Worlds 2014.

Set in the past, Arcane retells the origin stories of several League of Legends characters from Piltover and Zaun. Namely, we watched Vi and Jinx as the main characters, with Jayce, Victor, Caitlyn, Ekko being some of the more important characters as well. The English voice cast includes:

  • Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
  • Ella Purnell as Jinx
  • Kevin Alejandro as Jayce
  • Jason Spisak as Silco
  • Katie Leung as Caitlyn
  • Toks Olagundoye as Mel
  • J.B Blanc as Vander
  • Harry Lloyd as Viktor

Arcane is streaming on Netflix, while GKIDS announced just a day ago that they will be bringing the first season to Blu-ray and 4k.
