Bokuyaba Season 2 Voted Best Anime of the Year at 2024 Awards, 6 More Wins

The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 (Bokuyaba) was voted the Best Anime of the Year for 2024, winning six more awards along the way. This followed its Winter 2024 seasonal sweep, which was the first time ever that an anime won every single week in one of our seasonal rankings. It further proved dominance that season by winning the Best Anime of the Season title, along with 12 other awards.

A total of 51,698 people participated in the voting, with Bokuyaba taking 10.55%. It had only 0.18% more than the runner-up, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. You can see the top 10 anime of the season below.

This follows its 2023 success, where it also won the Best Romance and Slice of Life awards, as well as the Best Girl title for Anna. That year, the anime placed 6th overall.


Studio Shin-Ei Animation animated the The Dangers in My Heart (Bokuyaba) Season 2. Hiroaki Akagi returned to direct (he previously directed the first season which aired in Spring 2023). Jukki Hanada was in charge of the scripts and series composition, Masato Katsumata was the character designer, and Kensuke Ushio composed the music.

The cast also returned for the sequel, featuring Hina Yomiya and Shun Horie as the main duo Anna Yamada and Kyotaro Ichikawa. The second season concluded on March 30 with Episode 13.

The anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the title in English, while HIDIVE is streaming the anime. They describe the story:
Fascinated by the macabre, Kyotaro fantasizes about acting on his twisted thoughts to the detriment of his classmates. His heart was dark until an encounter with Anna lit a spark within it in a classic tale of boy meets girl.
