Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Movie has a new premiere date – June 11, 2022. The movie was set to premiere on April 22 but was postponed after the Toei Animation security breach that happened this March. At the time of the postponement, Toei Animation stated that “the unauthorized access to our servers made it difficult to finish producing the work” and apologized for the delay.
The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie was set to have a summer premiere in North America, but it is not clear if this has also been affected and if a new date will be revealed. Watch the latest trailer below:
On March 11, Toei Animation revealed that their servers were breached and that as a result many of their titles would be going on temporary hiatus. The affected titles included One Piece, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, Digimon Ghost Game, and Delicious Party Precure. One Piece recently announced that it will be continuing the TV anime broadcast on April 17 with the 1,014th episode.
The Dragon Ball franchise started with a manga by Akira Toriyama. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984 to 1989. Dragon Ball Z sequel started in 1989 and ended in 1995. The sequel to Z, Dragon Ball Super started serialization in 2015 and is still ongoing. Over the years, the franchise has spawned numerous anime adaptations, over 20 movies, manga spin-offs, merchandise, and more. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie is the most recent addition.
