McDonald’s Japan announced its first-ever collaboration with the popular Neon Genesis Evangelion series, announcing a lottery in which winners can win new limited-edition “miraculous transformation” figures.
Dubbed the “McDonald’s x Evangelion Value Set Figures,” three commonplace McDonald’s items: drink cups, fries, and burgers, were captured in figure form and designed to transform into the Evangelion Unit-01, Unit-02, and Unit-00, respectively. A special McDonald’s x Evangelion promo video was also released. You can check it out, along with images of the figures, below.

Fans in Japan can obtain the figures (sold as a set) for 3,900 yen (~$25) by entering the pre-lottery through the McDonald’s app, which will be open from December 19 to January 10, 2025. Winners can purchase the set at McDonald’s stores nationwide from January 20 to January 26. Entrants can only register for the pre-lottery once for up to one set. The full terms and conditions are available via the McDonald’s site. The second part of the McDonald’s collaboration will be revealed on December 26.
No international release for the McDonald’s x Evangelion figures has been announced, with even McDonald’s US Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin replying that he was desperately trying to secure himself a set on X (formerly Twitter).
Hideaki Anno directed the Neon Genesis Evangelion series at Gainax. It premiered in 1995. Netflix streams the series, describing it:
Fifteen years after the Second Impact, Shinji Ikari joins his father’s group NERV as one of several teenage mecha pilots fighting the monstrous Angels.
Khara’s first collaboration with McDonald’s follows its first collaboration with Sunrise on the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, whose new key visual and trailer were released last week.
