Goblin Slayer Season 2 anime unveiled a new trailer along with a studio change during GA Bunko’s live-stream event held on AbemaTV titled GA FES 2023 with Danmachi 10th Anniversary. Studio LIDENFILMS is animating the sequel, which was announced in late January 2021. The premiere date is set for sometime in 2023.
The cast members, Yuichiro Umehara (Goblin Slayer), Yui Ogura (Priestess), Nao Toyama (High Elf Archer), and Gobusure-san attended the program.
The anime is based on Kumo Kagyu’s Goblin Slayer light novel, which has been published with art by Noboru Kannatsuki under SB Creative’s light novel label GA Bunko since February 2016. The series released the newest, 16th volume in July 2022. The series’ first anime adaptation by WHITE FOX aired from October to December 2018 with a total of 12 episodes. An original video animation titled Goblin Slayer -GOBLIN’S CROWN- had a theatrical release and it premiered in February 2020. It was released as one Blu-ray and DVD volume in July 2020.
Yen Press licensed the light novel series for English release and describes the plot of the first volume as:
A young priestess has formed her first adventuring party, but almost immediately they find themselves in distress. It’s the Goblin Slayer who comes to their rescue–a man who’s dedicated his life to the extermination of all goblins, by any means necessary. And when rumors of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next…
