I'm Standing on a Million Lives S2 Episode 4: Cruelty of Disaster and Death

Episode 4 of the “I’m Standing on a Million Lives S2” anime was really harsh. An all-out war between the humans and ogres suddenly broke out on Jiffon Island. Not only that, but while in the middle of it, the volcano in the island also erupts, resulting in an earthquake and tsunami.

Fall of Lolle

To begin with, episode 2 of the anime, ended with the ogres attacking the human village on Jiffon Island. As a result, many have died in episode 3. However, the harshness of war is not over yet in this episode.

Well, the mercenaries are also participating in the war, and one of their members, Ryce, died in the previous episode. Here, another one of them, Lolle, also falls in battle. The sad thing is that the reason why he died is that he was protecting one of his comrades.

I’m not really surprised at what happened because some supporting characters also died in the first season of the anime. Unfortunately, this is the first time that someone has died wherein the viewers are aware that they are not virtual people. It seems that as the story goes deeper, this anime will become darker.

Volcanic Eruption

While each one of them has its own battles, the volcano suddenly erupts. Therefore, it results in an earthquake and tsunami. Also, there’s a lot of volcanic bombs falling onto the ground, killing tons of people.

The land starts to form a ground rupture. The lava is flowing into the rivers. The people are falling into the lava.

This scene is really sad for me because the people are singing while it’s happening. They consider the volcano as their god, so they start to reflect on their sins, realizing that they did horrible things in the past. It really touched me because all of them were crying.

The Mysterious Figure

After reflecting on their sins, the people decide to do better in the future. They also swore that they will not lose to any disasters next time. However, after saying that, a mysterious figure suddenly appears at the top of the volcano.

Personally, I think this is a dragon. Does that mean that Yotsuya’s real battle is just about to start? If you want to know what is the real nature of the mysterious figure, stay tuned to the anime. Episode 5 will air on August 7 and you can watch it on IQIYI.

Series Synopsis
