Summer 2021 anime season is just around the corner, and it’s full of exciting new titles and long-awaited sequels. Even though some titles have been hit by delays, the season still has a lot to offer. As usual, isekai stands out as the most popular genre of the Summer 2021 season, with 9 titles.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2: Part 2
The long-awaited second cour of Tensura‘s second season is upon us. The story should pick up right where it left off in the explosive season finale of the first part. The cast is returning, along with the staff. Anime premieres on July 6th, 2021.
Crunchyroll licensed the series and describes the plot as such:
Corporate worker Mikami Satoru is stabbed by a random killer, and is reborn to an alternate world. But he turns out to be reborn a slime! Thrown into this new world with the name Rimuru, he begins his quest to create a world that’s welcoming to all races.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Season 2
Hamefura’s second season is almost here. Katarina Claes has to fight for her happy ending once again, while meeting new friends and enemies. The anime premieres on July 2nd, 2021.
Crunchyroll also licensed My Next Life as a Villainess anime and describes it as:
Wealthy heiress Catarina Claes is hit in the head with a rock and recovers the memories of her past life. It turns out the world she lives in is the world of the game Fortune Lover, an otome game she was obsessed with in her past life… but she’s been cast as the villain character who tries to foil the protagonist’s romances!
The best ending the game has for Catarina is exile, and the worst, death! She’ll have to find a way to avoid triggering the flags of doom, and make her own happy future! The misunderstanding-based screwball love comedy now begins!
I’m Standing on a Million Lives 2nd Season
Even though season 1 of I’m Standing on a Million Lives aired recently, in Fall 2020, fans of the series certainly missed it. Yusuke is still trying to navigate his new isekai life while protecting his friends. The anime starts airing on July 2nd, but with a recap episode.

Aloof and logical middle school third-year Yusuke Yotsuya is transported to a game-like alternate world. He becomes a third player and takes on a dangerous quest with his classmates Iu Shindo and Kusue Hakozaki, who were transported there earlier.
The cold Yusuke eschews emotionalism and examines all elements with detachment, sometimes even toying with the lives of his companions. Can he protect his party from attacking monsters, difficult incidents, and powerful scheming enemies and win the game?
New Isekai in the Summer 2021 Anime Season
Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist
EMT Squared’s Drugstore in Another World premieres on July 7th, 2021. It takes us right back to isekai roots. It’s a slow and relaxing story, perfect for enduring summer heat. Bonus points for the multitude of adorable characters!
Seven Seas licensed the light novel anime is based on and describes the plot as:
Corporate drone Reiji is transported to a fantasy world, where he discovers that he can craft potions at a higher level than his rank should allow. Taking advantage of this, Reiji makes a tidy profit–enough to open his own drugstore. An elf who can’t aim his bow? Give him some eye drops! A dragon who accidentally breathes fire? Cough syrup! How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is another light novel turned anime. What would happen if our hero tried to come up with an administrative reform while living in the land of magic and dragons? We’ll find out on July 4th, 2021, which is when this harem anime premieres.
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel:
“O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world and his adventure–did not begin. After he presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself saddled with ruling the nation! The Dungeon of the Black Company
A fairly unique isekai concept comes to our screens in the upcoming Summer 2021 season. SILVER LINK is animating The Dungeon of the Black Company, another isekai based on a light novel. The anime begins airing on July 9th, 2021.
Seven Seas licensed the light novel:

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy
Fans of the more traditional isekai stories will be pleased with Tsukimichi. C2C’s new anime follows an isekai outcast hero, who has to fight for his place in society. The anime begins airing on July 7th, 2021.
Makoto Misumi is an ordinary high-schooler who gets summoned to another world. But, upon seeing his face a goddess who summoned him calls him “ugly”. She then banishes him to the wilderness, where he encounters magical beings. However, Makoto is no longer an ordinary human, since he now possesses magical powers. He will have to use those powers to fight and change the society he found himself in.
The light novel is not licensed at the moment.
Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles
An orphan living in the slums realizes that he possesses magical powers. He uses them to save a little girl’s life and his adventure begins. TMS Entertainment is animating Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, which is scheduled to air on July 6th, 2021.
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel the anime is based on and describes the plot as:
Meet Rio: a callous orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7-years-old, he realizes he’s actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past.
While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he’s rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children…?
Sonny Boy
Isekai meets survival mystery in MADHOUSE’s newest anime. Even though the first episode of Sonny Boy already premiered during Funimation’s special promotion weekend, we’ll still have to wait until July 15th for the official season premiere.
Since Sonny Boy is an original work, there is no light novel or manga to read. However, Funimation licensed the anime and describes the plot as:
Sonny Boy is a sci-fi survival series with a stacked 36-student cast of characters. Uprooted from their middle school lives, these students end up in another dimension and have to fight to survive.
