HIDIVE has announced they’ve acquired the Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night original anime, and they will stream it as an exclusive simulcast in their Spring 2024 line-up. They will host the North American premiere of episodes 1 and 2 on March 29 at Anime Boston 2024 ahead of its April premiere. Studio Doga Kobo is animating, with Ryohei Takeshita as the director.
The streaming platform recently launched a new, redesigned website and app. Regarding the new acquisition, John Ledford, President of HIDIVE, said:
We’re delighted to add Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night to HIDIVE’s Spring 2024 line-up of exclusive simulcast series. With animation by Doga Kobo, the studio behind 2023’s global smash hit Oshi no Ko, this original coming-of-age ensemble drama is sure to be one of top new series of the year. Fans do not want to miss a single episode of Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night!
Besides the director Ryohei Takeshita, the staff for the Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night anime includes JELLE as the creator, Bottom-Tier Tomozaki author Yuki Yaku as the series scriptwriter and composer. Illustrator popman3580 is the character designer, with Junichiro Taniguchi adapting them for the anime.
The main cast includes:
- Miku Ito as Mahiru Kozuki
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Mei “Kim Anouk” Takanashi
- Miyu Tomita as Kiwi Watase
- Rie Takahashi as Kano Yamanouchi
