Akasaka Aka, a retired manga artist and the creator of the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and author of Oshi no Ko, drew an illustration of Erika Amano from the A Couple of Cuckoos to celebrate the 3rd-year anniversary of the manga’s serialization on Wednesday. The manga author congratulated the creator of A Couple of Cuckoos, Miki Yoshikawa, and also thanked her for her contributions to the Kaguya-sama official fan book and her collaborations with the Oshi no Ko series.
A Couple of Cuckoos was initially published as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Magazine in September 2019. The series began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine on January 29, 2020, and currently has 15 volumes available. The manga series inspired an anime adaptation that aired from April until October 2022. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP animated the series with Yoshiyuki Shirahata as director. Meanwhile, Hiroaki Akagi served as chief director, Yasuhiro Nakanishi supervised the series composition, and Aya Takano designed the characters. The cast of the anime included:
- Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino
- Akari Kito as Erika Amano
- Konomi Kohara as Sachi Umino
- Nao Toyama as Hiro Segawa
Kodansha USA is licensing the manga in English and they describe the series as:
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Megurogawa Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
