Komi-san anime adaptation has announced two new cast additions on its official website. Ami Maeshima and Sarah Emi Bridcutt are joining the cast as Makeru Yadano and Akako Onigashima respectively.
Ami Maeshima (Aya Maruyama from BanG Dream) is voicing Makeru, a competitive girl who always tries to beat Komi in minor competitions and is also Komi’s self-proclaimed rival. On the other hand, Akako Onigashima, who is voiced by Sarah Emi Birdcutt (Myne from Shield Hero) is more easy-going but often annoyed by small things.
The official website also revealed commentary from both voice actors. Both of them talked about their characters, as well as general impressions about the plot. Ami Maeshima mentioned that she relates to Komi because she has also trouble communicating sometimes. But, she hopes that her character (Yadano) will be able to beat Komi someday.
Sarah Emi Birdcutt talked about actually stumbling upon the manga after she bought the Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine and her impressions of the character that she is voicing. Apparently, Akako is friendly and lively, until she gets mad.
Komi Can’t Communicate Anime Adaptation
The main and secondary cast for the Komi-san anime is already available. Aoi Koga is voicing Shouko Komi, with Gakuto Kajiwara as Hitohino Tadano and Rie Murakawa as Najimi Osana. Rumi Okubo (Omoharu Nakanaka), Rina Hidaka (Ren Yamai), and Yuikyo Fuji (Himiko Agari) are also starring in the anime, along with Noriko Hidaka who is narrating.
Studio OLM is animating the series. Kazuki Kawagoe is directing, while Atsuko Nakajima is in charge of character designs. Deko Akao is overseeing series composition, with Yukari Hashimoto composing the music.

Komi Can’t Communicate is a manga by Tomohito Oda. The manga started serialization in Weekly Shounen Sunday in 2017, and it currently has over 315 chapters. Viz Media licensed the manga and describes the plot as:
