You can see the full message below:

This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.

The Legend of Zelda film was previously slated for a May 7, 2027 theatrical release, following a delay from its initial March 2027 planned premiere. The movie is being co-produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Maze Runner director Wes Ball helming the project. The script is written by Derek Connolly, known for his work on Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island. The main cast consists of rising star Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

This live-action adaptation follows the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, premiered worldwide in April 2026.
