Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 6 picks up where the last episode left off. Runa’s twin sister, Maria, attempts to make a move on our boy Ryuto. Don’t worry; nothing happened. Ryuto then recognized that it wasn’t Runa, displaying the instincts of a devoted boyfriend. He recalled specific things about Runa that Maria wouldn’t know, leading him to realize the deception. Maria then confesses her feelings, admitting she loves him and is willing to pretend to be Runa to please him physically or emotionally. Ryuto, however, wisely rejects the idea, understanding it would hurt Runa.
Later, as a security guard approaches to check their room, they escape through the window and find themselves on a bench. Maria expresses her genuine affection for Ryuto, especially after he confronts her about spreading rumors about Runa. It dawns on Runa that Maria’s feelings for Ryuto are real. As they sit on the bench, she lays her head on his shoulder. Initially, Ryuto considers moving away but, feeling sorry for her, decides to stay. Eventually, they head home without exchanging any words.
I find Maria’s character disgusting; I hate her so much. What would drive her to be so desperate that she even resorts to pretending to be her twin sister? Thank God our boy truly knows when it’s not his girlfriend. He sensed something was off and actively set boundaries between them. I respect him for that.
At school, rumors were circulating. Upon entering his classroom, his friends informed him that someone had taken a picture of him with Maria on the bench which sparked rumors that he was cheating on Runa. He confronted Maria to confirm whether she had spread the rumor. She denied it, expressing pride in herself for rejecting him and suggesting that the rumor may have originated from that rejection. Maria then pondered if they would still be together if she hadn’t rejected him in middle school, causing a big misunderstanding. Runa overheard this, leading to her bursting into tears and running away. Unfazed, Maria left, and Runa’s best friend, Nikoru, angrily slapped him. Instead of chasing after Runa, he stood frozen in place.
What pride does Maria have left when she literally cosplayed as her twin sister to get with her boyfriend? Is she insane? The classic runaway and not-chase-your-girlfriend moments are typical in these situations and anime, so I didn’t expect too much from that part of the episode. At least he’s starting to grasp what’s going on. Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 6 made Maria’s character so down bad that I wanted to punch her.
Summertime arrives, and Ryuto goes to cram school while his friends are at the beach. They spot Runa with a random guy they’d never seen before, so they send a picture to Ryuto. He leaves cram school and heads to the beach. While running, he realizes that he took Runa’s kindness for granted and is determined to apologize to her.
Upon reaching the beach, he sees the guy from the picture with Runa and Nikoru, and they’re both shocked. The guy, realizing the situation, explains that he’s Runa’s uncle and suggests they stay for a drink and talk it out. They have a conversation, addressing how Ryuto had been texting Runa every day for two weeks, but she never received the messages because her phone was broken and had been taken to the shop. They clear up the misunderstanding, and Runa admits that she knew Ryuto wouldn’t cheat on her but was just afraid at the moment.
After that, they decide to go to her grandma’s house and spend some time together. Ryuto stays over at her house, and he is naturally nervous at first. We’ll find out what happens next in the next episode.
You know what I like about this show? They resolve misunderstandings in just one episode instead of stretching them out. The way they communicate is excellent, unlike other romance anime. While there is typical drama in the show, they make an effort to address and resolve the misunderstandings quickly. I appreciate Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 6 a lot because prolonged anime misunderstandings can become really annoying.
Overall, Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 6 was quite stressful, but it ended well with the ending clearing up the misunderstanding. It made me want to rip off my hair, but when an episode resolves a misunderstanding and brings tears of happiness, it’s a relief as I don’t need to stress out any further. I’m pretty excited for the next episode because it’s starting to build up their summer and their relationship.
I give Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me episode 6 a 9/10. Also, I purposely did not put any pictures of Maria in this review; that’s how much I hate her.
