The Pon no Michi original anime from studio OLM has revealed the first key visual ahead of the January 2024 premiere. Hibiku Yamamura is joining the cast as well as Haneru Emi.
Previously announced cast members include Kaori Maeda as Nashiko Jippensha, Iori Saeki as Pai Kawahigashi, Shion Wakayama as Izumi Tokutom, and Yui Kondo as Riche Hayashi.
The anime will be directed by Tatsuma Minamikawa (Fire Force Season 2, Wave, Listen to Me!) Kenji Ota is doing the character designs for the anime (the original designs were done by Negi Haruba, author of The Quintessential Quintuplets). Emi Kadono is the color designer, while Scott MacDonald is in charge of the art direction. Takahashi Go is the sound director.
The official website for the anime briefly teases the setting of the majong-themed original anime as:
Set in the picturesque streets, historic shrines and temples, beautiful sea, and rich nature of Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the characters’ slow but sparkling days begin.
This is not the first time Studio OLM did an original anime, the most recent one being Odd Taxi with studio P.I.C.S, The TV anime aired from April 6 to June 29, 2021, for 13 episodes. It was followed by a movie in 2022.
