Japanese pop rock band Ryokuoushoku Shakai (Ryokushaka) performed the The Apothecary Diaries opening song “Hana ni Natte” (“Be a Flower”) on THE FIRST TAKE. It was the first opening for the anime, being used for episodes 1-12.
THE FIRST TAKE is a YouTube channel that shows various artists perform songs in a single take. Over a hundred musicians and singers have already performed on the channel. Some of the previous performers included Kessoku Band (Bocchi the Rock!), Creepy Nuts (MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES), SPYAIR (Haikyu!!), Hiroshi Kitadani (ONE PIECE), and Queen Bee (OSHI NO KO), among others.
TOHO Animation Studio and OLM are in charge of the animation, with Norihiro Naganuma as the director. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and they also confirmed that the sequel will be coming to the platform in January 2025. The voice cast consists of the following members:

- Megumi Han as Meimei
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Gaoshun
- Yui Ishikawa as Lihua
- Misaki Kuno as Xiaolan

- Takuya Kirimoto as Lakan Kan
- Ami Koshimizu as Pairin
They also revealed numerous monthly/seasonal visuals. The August visual featured Maomao and Xiaolan, the September visual featured Jinshi and Gaoshun, the October visual featured Maomao, Gyokuyou and Lingli, while the November visual brought Maomao and Jinshi together. The story follows the young apothecary Maomao as she gets sold to the emperor’s palace as a lowly servant. She’s not the type of character to just stay obedient, and she ends up helping Jinshi, a handsome official at the palace and getting a promotion. There’s plenty of mysteries at the palace, and she now has plenty of adventures there, all the while accidentally making Jinshi fall for her more and more.
