Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise From the Shadow- released the English dub of Episode 2 (Episode 14 overall) yesterday, and it gave justice to a cold line from Sung Jinwoo which was removed from the Japanese version. Jinwoo’s English voice actor, Aleks Le, shared this on X, posting a video of the scene and a photo from the original manhwa.
The line comes when Kim Chul angrily starts a countdown to three while walking up to the lower ranked hunters. In the original manhwa and the English version, Jinwoo continues the countdown with a cold “4” before slamming him into the ground. The Japanese version just had him silent.
In the same post, Aleks explains that the line was probably done that way in the Japanese version due to timing, but that he and Caitlin (the voice director Caitlin Glass) both wanted to include the line in the English version simply because it was “just too cold.” We previously had the cool opportunity to speak with Aleks Le along with the Japanese voice actor Taito Ban at Anime Expo 2024.
