Solo Leveling’s Multiverse Explored in Exciting New Cha Hae-In Backstory Webtoon for Arise Game

Solo Leveling‘s debut game, Solo Leveling: Arise, received a new webtoon release profiling the backstory of hunter Cha Hae-in. The twist, however, is that the story comes from an alternate reality where Hae-in leads the Valkyrie Guild instead of being part of the Hunters Guild. This is a spoiler-free zone for why this is even a thing, so don’t worry.

Despite profiling a different Hae-in, beginning with “This is a story from a forgotten world. The tale of a hunter otherwise lost to time,” the webtoon gives depth to Hae-in’s attraction to Jinwoo; she contrasts her strength and solitude with his weakness and perseverance, realizing that all along, she wanted to help driven hunters achieve their own victories rather than winning solely being the priority. Hae-in’s release follows numerous other Solo Leveling: Arise webtoons as part of the Hunter: Origin series; they chronicle the backstories of canon characters, such as Gunhee, Esil Radiru, and Goto Ryuji, and even original characters like Seorin, released last month in April. Below, you can also check out Hae-in’s (Valkyrie Guild) new Hunter Analysis File, yet another of the regular YouTube series providing insight into new playable character abilities.

The Hunter Analysis File shows off Hae-in’s attacks, such as Sword Princess’s Dance, Heavenly Strike, Swordstorm, Sword of Judgement, and even a battle between the Valkyrie Guild’s version and the regular Hae-in. Like the English dubbed version of the anime, Hae-in here is voiced by Michelle Rojas. Rojas was present at a recent Emmys For Your Consideration event, where she spoke on the personal significance of voicing Hae-in as a Korean-American. Solo Leveling producer Sota Furuhashi also shared that if it were up to him, he’d want to delay discussing Solo Leveling Season 3 until 2028 to give the animators time to rest, adding that the decision was more up to A-1 Pictures.

The Solo Leveling: Arise game adapts the manhwa by Chu-gong (original web novel story), h-goon (story adaptation to manhwa), and DUBU of REDICE STUDIO (art). A console and Steam release are both scheduled for the second half of 2025. Yen Press licensed the manhwa in North America, describing it:
Known as the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind, E-rank hunter Jinwoo Sung’s contribution to raids amounts to trying not to get killed. Unfortunately, between his mother’s hospital bills, his sister’s tuition, and his own lack of job prospects, he has no choice but to continue to put his life on the line. So when an opportunity arises for a bigger payout, he takes it…only to come face-to-face with a being whose power outranks anything he’s ever seen! With the party leader missing an arm and the only healer a quivering mess, can Jinwoo somehow find them a way out?
