My Hero Academia Season 7 Premiere Review

My Hero Academia Season 7 premiered last week giving fans a ton of new action and a glimpse at what Director Naomi Nakayama can bring to the table. Stellar action and Romi Park’s series debut as Star led the way to give the series one of its best seasonal premieres to date.

In this week’s episode, the fight between Star and Shigaraki continues to heat up. Will the American All-Might prodigy lay waste to the series’ destruction-hungry villain or will our favorite chapped-lipped antagonist come out on top?

My Hero Academia Season 7 kickstarts the Star and Stripe Arc with Park voicing the new character of Star and Stripe. The arc spans over the course of chapters 329-334, with the U.A. Traitor Arc following it. The rest of the main cast has reprised their roles from the previous season.

Kenji Nagasaki returns as the chief director for My Hero Academia Season 7 while Nakayama, who storyboarded past episodes and openings for the series, is working as the director. Yosuke Kuroda reprised his role in handling the series composition, same as Yuki Hayashi as the music composer and Hitomi Odashima and Yoshihiko Umakoshi for the character designs. The rest of the main staff are the following:

  • Art Directors: Shigemi Ikeda and Yukiko Maruyama (Seasons 1-6)
  • Director of Photography: Takashi Sawa (Seasons 1-6)
  • Sound Director: Masafumi Mima (Seasons 1-6)
  • Color Design: Kazuko Kikuchi (Seasons 1-6)
  • Editing: Kumiko Sakamoto (Seasons 1-6)
  • Opening Theme Artist: TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (Tokyo Ghoul opening)
  • Ending Theme Artist: Omoinotake (HoriMiya opening)

The series will also be releasing a new movie on August 2 titled My Hero Academia: You’re Next with Tensai Okamura working as the director and studio BONES handling the animation production. Kenta Miyake, the voice of All Might, will also be voicing the role of the film’s main villain Dark Might. Series creator Kohei Horikoshi will be supervising the project.

My Hero Academia Season 7 episode 2 will be released on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
