The Cheetozard — A $88000 One of a Kind Pokémon Collectable

The Pokémon franchise has boasted thousands of milestones in its nearly thirty-year span. But now they can claim a pretty unusual and hilarious one: a Charizard-shaped Flaming Hot Cheeto, the Cheetozard, sold at auction for a staggering $87,840.

1st & Goal Collectibles first bought the three-inch snack, from a seller on eBay. From there, after a sale and resale, the Flaming Hot Tsundere Dragon ended up in the hallowed halls of Goldin Auction, where its listing attracted widespread online attention. Cheetozard’s initial bid was a paltry sum, but as the auction entered its final hours, a bidding frenzy ensued. So fierce was the bidding that the item became the highest-valued food item auctioned by Goldin. Information on the buyer has yet to be disclosed.

Cheetozard & The Pokémon franchise

A dragon-like Pokémon that’s not a dragon, Charizard made its first appearance in the Pokémon Red & Blue Nintendo games. Its first anime appearance was in the 46th episode of the original Pokémon Series. The episode was titled “Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon.” Charizard’s original attributes were fire and flying. Later on, his Mega Charizard form would finally gain the fire and dragon attributes. Pokémon Sword & Shield introduced a Gigantamax form in 2019.

The Pokémon franchise started in 1996 as a pair of Nintendo Game Boy (Pokémon Red & Blue) games developed by Game Freak. They were based on Satoshi Tajiri’s original concept. Since then, the franchise has blossomed into different iterations. Several anime versions, manga, games, trading card games, movies, and live actions exist, but by far the greatest thing to come out of the franchise is the Cheetozard, for it is prophesized to bring peace to the world.

The franchise is set in an alternate world in which humans coexist with powerful animals known as Pokémon. Humans form various relationships with these creatures, but many capture and battle them against other Pokémon.
