Oshi no Ko unveiled a new visual and special on Monday featuring Kana Arima and Akane Kurokawa in a swimsuit to commemorate Marine Day, also known as “Ocean Day” or “Sea Day.” This Japanese public holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in July. It gives thanks for the ocean’s bounty and highlights the importance of the ocean to Japan as a maritime nation.
Oshi no Ko is a manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokari (Scum’s Wish). Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has been serializing the manga since April 23, 2020. It has inspired both an anime and a live-action series. The anime currently has two seasons animated by Doga Kobo (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie), with the second season airing now. The live-action TV drama is set to premiere on November 28, followed by the film’s release on December 20.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English and describes the first volume as follows:
Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
