Black Clover Episode 163: Yami Faces Dante

Black Clover released Episode 163, and we finally got to learn some more of Grey’s past! She seems to be a variation of the Cinderella story, and we also got to learn that she’s Gauche’s potential love interest. He’s the reason she seems to have ‘surpassed’ her limit, and I wonder how exactly her transformation ability saved him.

Then we got see Dante admiring Grey and deciding to take both Vanessa and her. And that’s exactly when Yami arrived to face the devil after his training arc. They had a nice fight, though it seemed like Yami was being overwhelmed even with his new Black Hole skill. However, he did manage to slice the devil eventually, though it’s unlikely to be over already.

And then Luck got to shine in a fight against a Vanica simp. Since he couldn’t learn to call a lightning, he became lightning instead. Very impressive, though I hope he’s not already exhausted. Also have to appreciate his character development thanks to Asta, and the decision to protect others just because he wants to.

Black Clover is an anime adaptation of Yuki Tabata’s manga of the same name. It started back in February 2015 and will end on March 30, 2021 after 170 episodes. There will also be an announcement at the end of that episode, so we might get something interesting there too. With episode 163 out, it means the Black Clover anime has only 7 episodes left!

In case you aren’t watching it, maybe check it out after reading the synopsis:

Asta is a young boy who dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. Only one problem – he can’t use any magic! Luckily for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire that gives him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can’t use magic really become the Wizard King? One thing’s for sure – Asta will never give up!

Asta might be a bit annoying at start, but it’s worth watching through! My favorites from the recent episodes are the awesomely animated filler episode 151, as well as the timeskip and epic animation in episode 158.
