Shunsui Kyoraku's Bankai Introduces New Voice for Katen (Ohana) in Bleach

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War showed Shunsui Kyoraku using his Bankai in the latest episode, introducing a new voice for his Zanpakuto, Katen Kyokotsu (Ohana). The new voice actress is Ami Koshimizu, known as the voice of Holo in Spice & Wolf, Ryuko Matoi in KILL LA KILL, Kallen Stadfelt in Code Geass, among others.

Shunsui’s Kyoraku Zanpakuto is split into halves, Katen and Kyokotsu. They both previously made appearances in the two anime-only arcs, Zanpakuto Unknown Tales and Beast Swords. Katen was voiced by Ayumi Fujimura, while Kyokotsu was voiced by Yu Shimamura. Shunsui using his Bankai was also teased in the first trailer for Part 3:

Studio Pierrot previously produced the original TV anime adaptation of Tite Kubo’s BLEACH manga, which aired between October 2004 and March 2012 with a total of 366 episodes. VIZ Media licensed it in English.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 -The Conflict- is the third of four parts of the new anime. It was voted the most anticipated Fall 2024 anime. It premiered on October 5, and the first two episodes both ranked first in our weekly ranking. Since then, it has topped the rankings five times this season so far. The anime has Hikaru Murata as the director, Masaki Hiramatsu and Taguchi Tomohisa on the series composition, Masashi Kudo as the character designer, and Shiro Sagisu in charge of the music.

The BLEACH: Rebirth of Souls console game has also confirmed its release date for early 2025.
