Kaiju No. 8 manga officially ends today, getting a special illustration from the author to conclude its 5-year run. The manga by Naoya Matsumoto first began on July 3, 2020 on the Shonen Jump+ platform, with the final chapter (Chapter 129) releasing just a bit over 5 years later on July 18, 2025 in Japan. Season 2 of the anime is set to premiere tomorrow, July 19,

The manga has over 18 million copies in circulation, with Viz Media publishing it in English. Season 1 of the anime adaptation by Production I.G ran from April to June 2024. The anime came back earlier this year with the Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon recap movie, as well as the Hoshina’s Day Off special episode. Season 2 is set to premiere on July 19, with Crunchyroll, X, and Netflix (in select regions in Asia) set to stream it.
The latest trailer for the new season introduced the new ending theme song “Beautiful Colors” by OneRepublic.
The franchise also has an upcoming game adaptation, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME. The showed its first demo during Anime Expo 2025 earlier this month, while it has already reached over 300,000 pre-registrations globally. It is set to launch later in 2025.
