FanFes 2026 kicked off last weekend with a topaz-themed summer event that brought a sparkle of fun to Manila. This is the cozier version of the Cosplay Mania event series, following Cosplay Carnival. From stunning cosplay performances to booths packed with fan art stickers, prints, and art merchandise, FanFes 2026 was made for Filipino anime and game fandoms. It was held on May 16-17, at the One Ayala Mall, Makati City, Philippines.

For many attendees, FanFes 2026 is more than a convention– it’s a space where creativity, identity, and the Filipino community come together through art, cosplay, and shared interests. It’s hard to believe how these were once considered a niche interest a decade ago (cue in Jurassic Park theme here), but fast forward to the present, and it’s become a thriving movement in the Philippines.

We have artists, cosplayers, and creatives keeping our beloved fandoms alive. Every illustration, key charm, sticker, and handcrafted item is a reflection of that dedication, even when it’s long after their trends fade. I was able to spot Yuri on Ice, Evangelion, Spirited Away, and many more that made my heart flutter with nostalgic excitement.

In fact, this event is proof enough of how fandom spaces continue to grow into communities that inspire creativity, self-expression, and connection. Con-goers stop to admire artworks, buy merch, and talk with creators who share the same interests as them. Needless to say, the artist alley quickly became one of the busiest spots in the event, brimming with fandom energy.

FanFes 2026 delivered some of the most unique and enjoyable convention moments. This year, there was an Honor of Kings and Attack on Titan collaboration, featuring a large, colossal Titan overlooking the entire FanFes (it was the same last year from PUBG, but HOK brought us a chibi version!). There was also a photo wall with the wings of freedom, a set-up of the buildings from the series, character standees, and a photo op area that allows you to peek like a wall Titan.

Next, the Filipino anime and cosplay community was graced with the presence of special guest Ryukku-K from Malaysia, who shared her Umamusume cosplays (Still in Ryu and Oguryu Cap) with all of us. She participated in the Q&A segment, the cosplay contests as a judge, and her very own meet-and-greet.

On the stage, there were also cosplay contests and musical performances that showcased unique and charismatic talents. Meanwhile, the exhibition floor was filled with fun merchandise. Hubbyte with their figures and gacha, T-Tees with their shirts, Aezer with their Genshin Impact merch, and many more! Unlike last year, the food stalls were now stationed inside the halls, giving everyone faster access to delicious food. (I was especially comforted by Polland’s warm soup!). The rest areas this time around were all cozy, not to mention the air conditioning upgrade that One Ayala provided.

Lastly, throughout the event, many cosplayers strutted the halls in the glamorous outfits they prepared (or clutched), making for an immersive and lively cosplay convention overall. Check out the rest of our event highlight photos for FanFes 2026:

Now on its third year at One Ayala, Makati, FanFes is still the same cozy and cheerful place we know. I always mention that it stands by its name — a festival of arts and fandoms, allowing everyone a place to enjoy and support each other’s crafts, hobbies, and favorite things this summer. It’s a fantastic showcase of creativity — from the artists at the FanFair, cosplayers at the Cosplay Catwalk, the cheerful gamers at the HOK booth, the simple con-goers, and many more. Everyone’s enthusiasm made it a memorable fandom experience.
