Digimon Brand-New TV Anime Announced for 2027

Following the launch of its 30th anniversary project, the Digimon franchise has confirmed that a brand-new TV anime is officially in production and scheduled to premiere in 2027.

The announcement builds on the franchise’s recently unveiled anniversary plans, which also include the fan-voted retrospective series Bokura ga Eranda Best Adventure (“The Best Adventure We Chose”).

While Toei Animation has yet to reveal a title, staff, story details, or characters for the new series, it confirmed that the project will be an entirely new TV anime created as part of Digimon’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

A commemorative visual released alongside the announcement brings together DigiDestined and partner Digimon from across the franchise’s history, celebrating nearly three decades since the original Digital Monster virtual pet launched in 1997.

The new series will become the latest television entry in the long-running franchise, following DIGIMON BEATBREAK, which is currently airing in Japan and streaming on Crunchyroll.

Digimon Adventure is a 1999 Japanese anime series produced by Toei Animation in cooperation with WiZ, Bandai and Fuji Television. It was the first anime series in the Digimon media franchise, based on the Digital Monster virtual pet released in 1997. It received numerous other adaptations and spin-offs and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027.

While at summer camp, seven kids come across seven Digivices and are transported to a strange digital world. In this new world they make friends with creatures that call themselves Digimon who were born to defend their world from various evil forces.
