Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun First Trailer Reveals Main Staff and Cast

Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun anime revealed its first trailer and a new visual, along with an April 2027 release date. The anime was announced in April 2025.

Studio Fugaku is in charge of the animation production, with Masashi Abe as the director, Kazuharu Sato in charge of the series composition, Ryoji Nakamori as the character design, and music by Hayato Matsuo. The main voice cast includes:

• Gen Sato as Miyamoto Musashi
• Kenichiro Matsuda as Honda Tadakatsu
• Kenyu Horiuchi as Oda Nobunaga

Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun (Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyo Bugeisha Ketteisen) is a manga series written by Yosuke Nakamaru and illustrated by Kyotaro Azuma. It first debuted in January 2021 in Young Magazine the 3rd, published by Kodansha. Following the discontinuation of that magazine, the series was moved to Monthly Young Magazine in May of the same year. Kodansha describes the story:

This is not history as we know it. The year is 1600. Ten years have passed since Oda Nobunaga unified the whole of Japan. When Nobunaga realizes he is nearing the end of his life, he announces that he will hand over the reins of power to whoever brings him the strongest warrior. The generals, whose dreams of conquering the country had been crushed, put up their own strongest warriors and aim to become the king of the country! The first match is peerless spear wielder Honda Tadakatsu (sponsored by Tokugawa Ieyasu) vs. evolving prodigy Miyamoto Musashi (sponsored by Chosokabe Motochika)!!
