Rudy Sets Out to Save Nanahoshi in Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 9 Preview

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 revealed the Episode 9 preview images and synopsis ahead of its August 23 premiere. The episode is set to continue the Chaos Breaker arc, which recently revealed a trailer and began with Episode 8. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as part of its Summer 2026 lineup.

Episode 9 is titled “Lament,” and you can see the preview images and synopsis below.

Nanahoshi suddenly coughs up blood and collapses aboard the Chaos Breaker. The cause turns out to be Drain Syndrome, a disease thought to have been eradicated 7,000 years ago. Nanahoshi falls into despair. Wanting to help her, Rudeus approaches Perugius and offers his assistance. They then set out to find someone who might know about Drain Syndrome…

Season 3 began with Volume 14, for which Seven Seas describes the story:
Nanahoshi, Rudeus, and the rest of their group take a trip to Perugius’s mysterious floating fortress, seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn new magic. What they find instead is disaster as one of their number is struck down by a deadly illness. How far will Rudeus go to save a dear friend’s life?

The anime is based on a light novel by Rifujin na Magonote with Shirotaka’s illustrations. Seven Seas is publishing the light novel in English.

The series is also launching a game titled Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Chronicle of Echoes this year. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases developed by ASOBIMO.
