Filo from The Rising of the Shield Hero anime has received a character trailer, together with the rebroadcast of the 10th episode of season 1. Season 2 will premiere in April 2022.

The YouTube channel of Kadokawa also uploaded a Naofumi trailer on September 29, 2021, along with the creation of the anime’s Instagram account. On the same day, the rebroadcast of the series also started in Japan. A Raphtalia trailer was also uploaded on November 4, 2021, along with the rebroadcast of the show’s episode 6.
Season 2 was originally set to air in October 2021 but was postponed to April 2022. The first season of the anime aired in 2019, with a total of 25 episodes. Takao Abo (Norn9) directed the series, while Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) animated it. DR Movie (Elsword) will take care of season 2’s animation, while Masato Jinbo (Restaurant to Another World) will be directing it.

Aneko Yusagi launched The Rising of the Shield Hero web novel series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website. It was serialized from 2012 to 2015. Media Factory started publishing a light novel adaptation in August 2013 with Seira Minami’s illustrations. The light novel is still ongoing and it currently has 22 volumes in circulation. The same publisher is also serializing a manga adaptation by Aiya Kyū since February 2014. As of now, it has 19 volumes available.

After their battle with Glass, Naofumi and his friends work to revitalize the Cal Mira islands before returning to the castle. On the ship back to Melromarc, they meet a young girl named Rishia, who claims to have been tricked and abandoned by her companions. Naofumi, sympathizing with her fate, agrees to listen to her story, and she joins the party. Eventually, Naofumi discovers that she has a talent for transformation magic, but before they can discuss it, someone comes running to beg the heroes for assistance. A monster wearing something like a turtle shell needs to be chased off. The monster is so powerful that even the mightiest adventurers cannot defeat him—so what hope is there for Naofumi?
