The episode has an original story and follows Luffy, Zoro and Nami as they encounter an evil pirate called Ganzack, who wants to become The King of the Pirates. There is a big difference between the first ONE PIECE The Pirate Ganzack OVA and the currently ongoing TV anime adaptation by Toei. The main noticeable difference is the completely different voice cast, which includes:

  • Urara Takano as Luffy
  • Wataru Takagi as Zoro
  • Megumi Toyoguchi as Nami
  • Norio Wakamoto as Ganzack
  • Jun Tanaka as Medaka
  • Takkou Ishimori as Skid
  • Ikuya Sawaki as Herring and the narrator

Zoro’s voice actor from the anime would go on to become the voice of Bellamy in the Toei adaptation, while Skid’s voice actor voices Sengoku and Herring/narrator voices Fujitora. The director of the OVA, Goro Taniguchi, will now be directing the ONE PIECE FILM RED. It comes 24 years later!
